The way in which qualifications are earned in South Africa is currently undergoing a dramatic transition, and it appears likely that before long, fewer accredited qualifications will be available. However, this challenge can be avoided by registering under the current system for the NQF5 Wealth Management – NQF5 qualification. These students will have more than enough time – at least three years – to complete the qualification, which will enhance their financial skills.
As an NQF Level 5 qualification, the entry requirement is a Matric pass (or equivalent). For students who have passed Grade 10 but not Matric, it is possible to arrange a bridging programme at an additional cost.
The programme consists of several core and fundamental units which include:
There is also a range of elective units included in the programme. While individual students will take the electives chosen by the wider class, corporate clients will be able to choose the electives most suitable to their own employment needs. Elective units cover topics of general interest such as behavioural finance, presentation skills and effective financial advising, and also specialisations such as long-term insurance, group retirement benefits, medical schemes, and estate planning.
Each unit is a registered skills programme, which means students are able to earn recognised certifications as they complete each the units, long before they come to the end of the programme.
Each unit is taught by a qualified and experienced facilitator, typically via live online sessions. The comprehensive learning material is written in English at the appropriate level, developed by a team of experts in the field, and updated regulalry for changes to legislation and other industry developments. Where needed, additional assistance is arranged using webinars or online chat groups, depending on the number of students. Each unit is assessed by means of a portfolio of evidence (POE). This and other assignments are submitted online. At each stage, there are opportunities for revision and resubmission. The programme ends with a set of final exams, which are written in person.
For groups of 15 or more students, in-person facilitation is available.
For corporate clients, this programme can be provided as part of a learnership, which is a highly effective way to boost retention, develop a pipeline, improve a B-BBEE rating, expand CSR, and earn significant tax deductions.
As part of this service, in addition to offering the full programme to a group of unemployed and/or disabled learners, the training provider will:
