“We really need to raise the RE5 pass rate.”
We hear this from Compliance Officers, managers and executives at FSPs.
And it makes sense. When reps fail the RE5 and have to rewrite it, there’s more time off work, extra pressure to meet supervision requirements, and lower morale.
If you want to improve your team’s chances of passing, start by looking closely at the training they’re receiving.
Here are 5 questions you should ask:
Is the training clear and memorable?
RE5 content can be dry, technical and hard to retain. Good training makes complex regulations easier to understand and remember.
Are the practice questions realistic?
There are no past RE5 papers available. That means candidates need a strong range of practice questions that reflect the style and difficulty of the real exam.
Is the course up to date and complete?
The curriculum changes. Training should reflect the current requirements, not outdated or irrelevant material.
Is it convenient for busy reps?
Reps are balancing study with demanding jobs. They need training they can access when it suits them, and for as long as they need to work through the material thoroughly.
Can you track your team’s progress?
As a manager, you should be able to see who is progressing well, and who needs support.
If the answer to all five questions is yes, your team is likely to be in a strong position.
If not, the training may be part of the problem.
